John Forbes Nash es un matemático estadounidense premiado con un Nobel, cuyo trabajo en la teoría de juegos, geometría diferencial y ecuaciones parciales diferenciales se consideran de avanzada. A temprana edad se interesó en experimentos científicos que llevó a cabo en su habitación. Estudió química, ingeniería química y matemáticas en la Universidad Carnegie Mellon. En 1959, John Nash comenzó a mostrar signos graves de paranoia y empezó a comportarse de forma errática. Creía que había una organización que lo perseguía. En ese mismo año fue admitido involuntariamente al hospital donde se le diagnosticó esquizofrenia paranoide. Después del tratamiento fue nuevamente ingresado en el hospital, esta vez voluntariamente para recibir terapia de choque por 9 años. Luego de regresar del hospital en 1970, se fue recuperando gradualmente. Su trabajo tenía cada vez más éxito y recibió varios premios y reconocimientos, entre ellos el Premio Nobel en Ciencias Económicas en el año 1994. Una película ganadora del Premio de la Academia llamada “A Beautiful Mind” protagonizada por Russell Crowe fue inspirada en su biografía.

John Forbes Nash is an American mathematician awarded a Nobel, whose work in game theory, differential geometry and partial differential equations are considered advanced. At an early age he became interested in scientific experiments that he carried out in his room. He studied chemistry, chemical engineering and mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University. In 1959, John Nash began to show severe signs of paranoia and began to behave erratically. He believed that there was an organization that was persecuting him. In that same year he was involuntarily admitted to the hospital where he was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. After the treatment he was again admitted to the hospital, this time voluntarily to receive shock therapy for 9 years. After returning from the hospital in 1970, he gradually recovered. His work was increasingly successful and he received several awards and recognitions, including the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 1994. An Academy Award-winning film called "A Beautiful Mind" starring Russell Crowe was inspired by his biography .
